Questions to ask your photographer

  1. Does the package price include prints or just the actual snapshots
  2. If you are ordering a wedding package, check to see if the snapshots are unlimited or limited
  3. Check to see if you can get the copyright release to the photos so you can make your own prints
  4. Ask how much experience they have had with weddings
  5. Ask about their experience with wedding that are similar to yours (candlelight views, weddings at dark, outside weddings, etc)
  6. Just because they rave about their awesome camera doesn't mean your pictures will be good, ask about their experience in editing and touch-ups. (Some placed will   "cover-up" blemishes, scars, etc if you request)

Things to think about- Photography can be one of your biggest expenses depending on how important it is to you and that is certainly something you need to think about. You can pay up to $10,000+ for photography even for "every-day people" weddings.

  1. Google cheap wedding photography in your area- then Google expensive wedding photographers. For example: http://www.rosalindweddings.com/   . They have beautiful photographs, but their pricing starts at $14,500.
  2. The biggest difference you will probably notice between an "expensive" photographer vs. a "inexpensive" photographer is clarity of photos.
  3. You really need to decide where photography is in your priorities of expenses. I personally spent more on photography than any one thing alone including ,venue, cake, dress, ring, etc. It was my single-most largest expense made for the wedding.
  4. Make a list of shots you really want from your photographer (Example: the dress hanging, the groom when he sees the bride, the rings, the bouquets)
  5. Do you prefer candid shots or posed photographs?
